THUS NETWORK IS kING FOR cOLLEGE
30th July 2008 - THUS plc today announced that it has signed a contract with Kings College London to deliver a network to meet the
institution's growing academic collaboration and research needs. The network will also carry all administrative applications to support
vital inter-site communication.
THUS's next-generation network (NGN) solution will run between the University's thirteen campus locations including Guy's, St Thomas'
and Kings College Hospitals. It will offer enhanced access for researchers and academics, enabling a more efficient service to support their
research excellence, as well as better access for professional services staff who manage operational applications and databases.
King's College London is one of the top 25 universities in the world (Times Higher 2007) and the fourth oldest in England. A
research-led university based in the heart of London, King's has 19,700 students from more than 140 countries, and 5,400 employees. King's
has an outstanding reputation for providing world-class teaching and cutting-edge research.
The College is in the top group of UK universities for research earnings and has an annual income of approximately 400 million. King's
has a particularly distinguished reputation in the humanities, law, social sciences, the health sciences, natural sciences and engineering,

The City Ethernet and Open Fibre network solution will offer King's College London improved reliability and scalability, while providing
a cost effective solution to the growing demands on the College network infrastructure. As well as supporting current research, teaching and
administration requirements including centralised applications, email and internet, the network solution will provide a platform to deliver
converged solutions in the future, such as video and VoIP.
Lynne Tucker, Chief Technology Officer at Kings College London commented: "Our world-class research needs to be supported by an industry
leading communication network and THUS's NGN solution offered everything we required today, with the potential to evolve and grow with the
demands the future will bring. This is a significant development in enhancing our capabilities."
Phil Male, Chief Operating Officer, THUS plc said: "THUS has delivered advanced communication solutions for the education sector for a
number of years now and understands their unique needs. THUS's next-generation network is fast, economic and resilient and provides the
