United Energy plc announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, AmBrit Energy
Corp ("AmBrit") has acquired two operated oil fields in Chambers County, Texas
from a group led by BXP Company LLC for a cash consideration of $US 2.35
million.

The properties include:

* A 100% working interest in the Hankamer Field, Chambers County, Texas which
produces oil under strong natural water drive from four Frio Sands at a
current net rate of 55 boepd.  There is potential upside on this property
through recompletions.

* A minimum of a 97.5% working interest in the South Liberty Field, Chambers
County, Texas which produces oil and gas from the Frio, Yegua and Cook
Mountain formations at a current net rate of 90+ boepd.  There is potential
for re-development of some deeper zones which have been previously abandoned.

The acquisition is estimated to add net proved reserves of over 620 mboe.

In addition,  earlier this year the Sullivan Deep "A" No2 and the Perez-Alaniz
No1 were drilled as offsets to the successful Sullivan Deep "A" No1 and Perez
Deep No1 wells drilled in 1997.  Both the offset wells encountered the
expected pay sections although the sands in the Perez-Alaniz No1 were of
poorer quality than those seen in the original well.  Both these wells are
being completed and are expected to be on production towards the end of April.
