Watts Blake Bearne & Company PLC (the "Company")

On Friday 16 January 1999, the Company was informed that Mr  C
D Pike had transferred, on 11 January 1999, 80,000 shares into
trust  for his grandchildren by Mr and Mrs J D Pike and 48,436
shares  into the Woodlands Trust, of which Mr J D  Pike  is  a
trustee.   Mr  J  D  Pike is a non-executive director  of  the
Company.

Following  these transfers, Mr J D Pike now has  a  beneficial
interest  in  531,392 shares (2.52 per cent of  the  Company's
issued share capital) and a non-beneficial interest in 394,791
shares (1.88 per cent of the Company's issued share capital).

The  Company  understands  that  Mr  C  D  Pike's  disclosable
interest  in the Company is now 815,541 shares (3.87 per  cent
of the Company's issued share capital).
