Less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Central Freight Lines, Inc. (Nasdaq:CENF) has promoted Tony Antone to its Dallas Division Vice President post. The announcement was made by Gary McCartney, Vice President of Operations Central Freight Lines, Inc., and is effective immediately. McCartney, citing Central's tradition for promoting from within its ranks, said, "Tony's successful 14-year career at Central has resulted in consistent terminal productivity enhancements and sales revenue increases." He continued, "Known to both our customers and employees as a man of integrity, I am confident Tony's extensive experience in terminal and hub operations will continue to benefit the product and service Central proudly delivers." Hired in 1991 as Terminal Manager, Antone opened Central's first expansion terminal in Oklahoma City. He holds the distinction of being the first Central employee hired outside of the company's Texas headquarters. Antone was promoted several times, holding positions as the Ft. Worth Terminal Manager and the Dallas Hub Manager. Antone got his start in transportation at Jones Truck Lines. He worked his way up from part-time Dock Worker through Pick-up and Delivery Driver, Account Manager, City Sales Manager, Hub Manager and ultimately served as the company's Division Sales Manager. "I am pleased to have an expanded roll, allowing me to further contribute to Central's growth," commented Antone. "With 525 dock doors, the Dallas terminal is our largest facility and the hub through which over 22 percent of our business is conducted. My focus is to continue delivering quality service product and surpassing customer expectations." A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Antone holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. He attended university on a football scholarship as a Defensive Back, playing for a national championship team his freshman year and winning the big eight conference championship all four years.
