Credence Demonstrates ATE Solutions for Consumer Semiconductor Industry at Semicon China

Marketwired
SHANGHAI, CHINA , a provider of test solutions for the worldwide
consumer semiconductor industry, announced today that it will
present its Diamond 10, ASL 1000 and ASL 3000RF solutions at the
Credence-Spirox Booth No. 2415, Hall W2 during Semicon China 2008,
beginning today at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
Credence will present the MultiWave instrument on the
ultra-compact Diamond 10 platform to demonstrate advanced
mixed-signal loopback and multisite baseband tests. The MultiWave,
which integrates the functionality of multiple instruments in one
multi-channel arbitrary waveform generator and digitizer unit,
offers the industry's most cost-effective mixed-signal solution for
multisite testing of highly integrated system-in-package (SiP) and
system-on-chip (SoC) devices used in mainstream consumer
applications. Customers today use the MultiWave to solve a full
range of highly integrated SoC/SiP testing challenges (for example,
fully parallel and concurrent testing of audio and video devices),
thus effectively reducing cost of ownership in very competitive
markets.
The Diamond 10 is specifically designed for the test challenges
of low-cost consumer IC devices. The ten-slot Diamond architecture
can be configured with a complete range of test instruments.
Typical configurations support up to 768 200Mbps digital channels,
or up to 384 digital channels when equipped with mixed-signal
instruments. The Diamond 10, which is about the size of a large
desktop computer, offers this industry leading cost-performance
capability within a floor space requirement of less than 1m2. By
contrast, traditional ATE systems require at least four times this
area to deliver similar capability.
Credence will also present solutions for two automated test
equipment (ATE) platforms in the ASL Series, the most widely
deployed commercial production systems in the industry. The ASL
Series platforms -- ASL 1000, ASL 3000, and ASL 3000RF -- are
proven to consistently deliver highly accurate results at
significantly lower cost of test for highly competitive market
environments, including analog, discrete, power management, and
wireless applications.
Two capabilities for the ASL 1000 will be demonstrated: a class
D dual site application and a low dropout (LDO) multisite
application. The widely adopted ASL 1000 is a linear test platform
that supports up to 21 instruments in a fully configured system.
The ASL 1000 has the smallest footprint in its class. It is
air-cooled and uses a standard 110/220V outlet. Its small test head
makes docking easy. The ASL 1000 is extremely adaptable and easily
shared between engineering labs -- where it is a cost-effective
desktop tester -- and in full production test environments where it
effectively proves its low total cost of ownership on a daily
basis.
On the ASL 3000RF platform, Credence will demonstrate important
wireless applications for the China market, including Time
Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), IEEE
802.11 and TV tuner solutions. Testing today's multifunctional
mobile phones is very difficult. Flexibility and precision are key
factors during the development phase, while speed is critical in
the production environment. The scalable, flexible architecture of
the ASL 3000RF protects investment in capital equipment, program
development, and training, offering a significantly lower cost of
ownership. The ASL 3000RF includes advanced RF instrumentation for
both digital and analog baseband, and features modulated vector
network analysis (MVNA(TM)) technology for making S-parameter
measurements with greater accuracy. At Semicon China, the ASL
3000RF will demonstrate high-throughput quad-site power amplifier
(PA) production testing in a customized 3G wireless application
(TD-SCDMA modulation and analysis).
