MILPITAS, CA , a provider of test solutions for the worldwide consumer semiconductor industry, announced today that Richtek, one of the world's largest suppliers of power management integrated circuits for desktop computers, has once again chosen the ASL 1000? platform from Credence for its recent LCD panel power management design win.

Richtek now has 22 platforms deployed in Taiwan and China, and drives an additional 100 ASL systems with its partners and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) companies for capacity wafer sort and final test worldwide. The first fabless company in Taiwan to have been qualified by Intel as a co-solution developer on PC motherboards, Richtek also develops a wide variety of semiconductors for consumer electronics, including semiconductors for mobile phones, networking products, digital cameras and notebook computers, in addition to power management and pulse width modulation devices for PC motherboards. The ASL 1000 consistently provides Richtek with cost-effective testing and reliable output in a mass production environment.

Amir Aghdaei, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for Credence, said, "Richtek is an excellent example of the type of long-term partnerships we seek to develop with customers. As our customers look to the future and define new market opportunities while satisfying ever changing consumer needs, we in turn work closely with them, investing in new instrumentation and capabilities to ensure that our platforms meet those challenges. Our solutions will continue to set the highest standard of value for our customers, helping them to continue to achieve lowest cost of test with maximum output."

The widely adopted ASL 1000 is a linear test platform that supports up to 21 instruments in a fully configured system that has the smallest footprint in its class. The ASL 1000 is extremely adaptable and easily shared between engineering labs, where it is a cost-effective desktop tester, and in full production test environments where it proves its low total cost of ownership on a daily basis.
