Ekinops, a leading provider of next generation dynamic multi-reach long-haul, regional, and metro transport aggregation solutions for service providers and enterprises, today announced that FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTGX), a leading provider of complex interconnection services, has chosen the Ekinops 360 multi-reach optical transport system for the deployment of 10G and Gigabit Ethernet services.

FiberNet will utilize the Ekinops 360, a carrier class optical transport platform for metro, regional, and long-haul networks, to deliver 10 Gigabit services in the New York/New Jersey region and in Los Angeles.

Density, reliability and ease of management were cited as reasons FiberNet chose the Ekinops 360 platform. We were looking for a high-density, reliable product for high-bandwidth 10 Gigabit services and we found that in the Ekinops 360, said Ernie Hoffmann, senior vice president of engineering and operations for FiberNet Telecom Group.

From the beginning, the Ekinops equipment has been easy to install, and its management system has been particularly user-friendly, he continued. Its reliability and ease of use has been great. We are now looking to Ekinops for Gigabit Ethernet and 2.5 Gigabit service aggregation as well.

The attractive cost of the Ekinops equipment was also a factor in FiberNets decision, Hoffmann noted. The volume of 10 Gigabit services has grown over the past year. For FiberNet to continue to meet our customers expectations, we need to provide world class service at a competitive price. The Ekinops 360 helps us achieve that goal.

With its T-Chip Transport on a Chip technology foundation, the Ekinops 360 equipment packs its transport intelligence into a much smaller, more efficient design, reducing costs, footprint, ongoing power consumption, and manufacturing delivery times to service providers and enterprises.

FiberNet chose the right partner in its search for a low-cost, reliable solution, said Rob Adams, vice president of marketing for Ekinops. With our T-Chip at the heart of all our equipment, we have been able to provide industry leading economics, minimize our footprint, reduce ongoing costs of power and management and deliver solutions quickly to FiberNet and our many other customers, allowing them to stay ahead of their competition.
