Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:MIFI), a leading global provider of
solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), including
software-as-a-service (SaaS), and General Communications, Inc.
(GCI) (Nasdaq:GNCMA), Alaska’s largest integrated
telecommunications provider, today announced its partnership to
offer Novatel Wireless specialized rugged connectivity solutions
with device management to its industrial telecom subscriber base.
“Our agreement with Novatel Wireless expands the GCI Industrial
Telecom portfolio and provides our Energy Sector customers with the
peace of mind that their systems will remain connected 24x7,” said
Rick Hansen GCI Industrial’s Sr. Director of Projects and
Engineering. “After numerous attempts with off-the-shelf options,
we were impressed with their ability to provide a solution that met
all of our requirements. They have a deep understanding of IoT
integration beyond just connectivity which is a successful formula
for GCI Industrial Telecom and our clients.”
“We are thrilled to be GCI’s partner offering specialized and
rugged connectivity solutions to their IoT customers,” said Michael
Cote, Vice President Business Development and Sales for Novatel
Wireless. “A down system in the industrial market segment can
translate to a loss of millions of dollars in many instances. After
working closely with GCI this last year to deliver the right
solution, we are pleased with the results and look forward to
continued success.”
This bundled solution will enable GCI’s IoT business
subscribers, which includes multi-national corporations servicing
the oil and gas industry, to seamlessly integrate a rugged and
reliable connectivity solution that powers their IoT deployments
24x7. The combination includes Crossroads™ SaaS device management
and the specialized HCMI and MRO IoT appliance designed to
