PHOENIX, July 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Radyne Corporation (NASDAQ:RADN) announced today that it received an order for $5.3 million for satellite modems and power amplifiers from a major military integrator as an initial procurement for its Ground Multi-Band Terminal (GMT) program. The order for Radyne satellite modems and Xicom power amplifiers is for the first phase of the program which is scheduled to include subsequent deliveries over the next five years. The GMT program has a potential for Radyne to receive an additional $60 to $80 million in modems and power amplifier orders over the next 3 to 5 years. Each GMT satellite communications system is contained in transit cases and is capable of repeated tactical deployments worldwide. The systems are designed to operate in the Department of Defense (DoD)/Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) X-band and Ka-band modes, as well as with commercial C-band and Ku-band satellites. GMTs are also required to be compatible with existing tactical satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals. Radyne's satellite modems are uniquely qualified for this application due to their flexibility, meeting military standards and having high speed capacity. Xicom leads the industry in the production of multi-band satellite power amplifiers that fulfill the military's mission of being able to use available satellite transponders, with a variety of frequency bands, around the world. "We are delighted to be chosen for this high profile program," said Bob Fitting, Radyne's CEO. "Our continuing efforts to penetrate military markets are paying off in programs like the GMT. It is also rewarding to win programs having both Radyne modems and Xicom amplifiers."
