SigmaTel, Inc. (NASDAQ: SGTL), today responded to a June 7, 2007 article published by Reuters out of Tapei, Taiwan, in which SigmeTels Chief Executive Officer, Phil Pompa, was quoted as stating that it is SigmaTels aim to achieve break-even operating results by the end of 2007. During an interview with Reuters at CompuTex, another SigmaTel official disclosed an internal operating goal of SigmaTel to be break even on a cash flow basis by the end of 2007. While this particular goal falls within a range of financial results being contemplated by SigmaTels management for 2007, it should not be construed or relied upon as guidance by SigmaTel or its management for SigmaTels 2007 operating results. Due to the inherent risks and uncertainties associated with SigmaTels business and the semiconductor industry in general, it is SigmaTels policy to only provide guidance for the following quarter, and it was not the intent of SigmaTels management to set a specific timeline for its return to profitability. SigmaTel remains committed to the cost cutting measures it has previously announced, which will continue to occur into the third quarter of 2007, and to its goal of returning to profitability in a prudent and timely manner, said Mr. Pompa, However, neither SigmaTel nor its management is currently providing any guidance or forecast that the company will return to operating profitability by the end of 2007. About SigmaTel: SigmaTel is a fabless semiconductor company which designs, develops, and markets mixed-signal ICs for the consumer electronics market.
