Trailer Bridge, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Market: TRBR) today announced that the Company was recently recognized for outstanding achievements in environmental excellence by the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA). The organization recognized Trailer Bridge for “environmental excellence during 13 consecutive years of operation.” Each of the Company’s seven vessels was noted for “devotion to the principles of environmental protection established by the international community, U.S. Federal agencies and local authorities.” The Company’s vessels have operated without incident throughout the Company’s history.

J. Edward Morley, Trailer Bridge’s Vice President – Marine Operations, said, “We are honored to receive this award, and believe that we have been at the forefront of environmental issues in marine transportation for years. The Company uses an Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (ULSD) in each of its vessels. Trailer Bridge has gradually shifted from using a Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (LSD), which is still allowed by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in marine vessels to the cleaner ULSD that will be required in the future. We believe this distinguishes Trailer Bridge from its peers.” Ivy B. Suter, Chief Executive Officer added, “The Company’s customer relationships are often driven by our more cost-efficient transportation system, and this environmental edge is becoming increasingly important for companies concerned about their environmental footprint. As a reference, we use ULSD with a sulfur content of 6 ppm and our self propelled competitors typically use fuel with a sulfur content of up to 45,000 ppm."
