America Online Joins the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group Carl

Appointed to Co- Chair of the Collaboration Subcommittee
WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Messaging Anti-Abuse
Working Group (MAAWG), a group of communications and technology
companies committed to solving spam, viruses and other forms of
messaging abuse, today announced that America Online joined the
group. America Online joins a working group that also includes:
Bell Canada BellSouth (NYSE:BLS) Charter Communications
(NASDAQ:CHTR) Cloudmark Cox Communications (NYSE:COX) EarthLink
(NASDAQ:ELNK) Goodmail Systems Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ,
Nasdaq: IIJI) Openwave Systems (NASDAQ:OPWV) TDS Telecom, TDS

find common solutions for eliminating spam and other unwanted
communications and security threats," said Carl Hutzler, Director

Engineering at Cox Communications, have been appointed to Co-Chair
of the Collaboration Subcommittee. In this role, Carl and Martin
will be driving the development of best current practices and code
of conduct for service providers. Founded in December of 2003,
MAAWG is dedicated to solving messaging abuse on three fronts --
collaboration, technology and public policy. Members of MAAWG are
working collaboratively to address and mitigate messaging abuse
problems-including spam, viruses, forgery, fraud and other
malicious attacks- affecting both broadband and mobile service
providers and their customers. MAAWG's next general meeting will be
held in Atlanta, GA from November 1st to November 3rd, 2004. For
