Entergy Louisiana, Inc. Announces Redemption of Preferred Securities NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Entergy Louisiana, Inc. (NYSE:EHL) today announced the redemption by Entergy Louisiana Capital I of all the $70 million aggregate liquidation amount of the 9% Cumulative Quarterly Income Preferred Securities (QUIPS) of Entergy Louisiana Capital I. The redemption price is equal to $25 per QUIPS plus accumulated and unpaid distributions to the redemption date of November 4, 2004. The payment will be made to holders of record as of November 3, 2004. The QUIPS are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "ELA_Pr B." The QUIPS were issued July 16, 1996 and represent preferred ownership interests in the assets of Entergy Louisiana Capital I. The assets of Entergy Louisiana Capital I consist exclusively of 9% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Debentures, Series A, Due September 30, 2045 (the "Debentures") issued by Entergy Louisiana, Inc. ELI has elected to redeem the Debentures, and such redemption will result in the redemption of the QUIPS on the date specified above. The redemption of the QUIPS will be made only to the extent that Entergy Louisiana Capital I receives proceeds from the contemporaneous redemption by Entergy Louisiana, Inc. on the redemption date of all outstanding Debentures. A notice of redemption is being sent to all registered holders of the QUIPS.
