Asian markets seem to be the only ones suffering, as the Nikkei and the Hang Seng were both lower, due to fresh weakness in the U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, trading in Europe is improving, as comments from U.S. Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan eased some concerns over the state of Fed's interest rate policy, while crude prices eased off of their fresh highs. Futures were trading higher this morning, as Fed Chair Alan Greenspan's remarks seemed to add resolve to the U.S. market. The Fed Chair did comment on the decline of long-term interest rates during the past year, noting that the phenomenon was a conundrum in light of the Fed's steady tightening of rates. Assisting the rise in the equity market was a pullback in crude prices, as the July contract on crude oil slipped 26 cents lower to $54.23 per barrel in early trading.
