LIN Media (NYSE: TVL), a local multimedia company, today announced Cozetta Smith as the recipient of its 2012 Minority Broadcast Scholarship and Training Program and Gloria So as the recipient of its 2012 Minority Digital Scholarship and Training Program.

Ms. Smith is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism Television: Writing and Production at Columbia College Chicago, the largest and most diverse private, nonprofit arts and media college in the nation. In addition to excelling in her academic career, Ms. Smith is committed to giving back to her community and is currently serving as president of the Chicago chapter of Jewels, Inc., a mentoring program for urban youth. Through LIN Media’s Minority Broadcast Scholarship and Training Program, Ms. Smith will earn hands-on broadcast training through a paid summer 2012 internship program at WANE-TV, the Company’s local CBS affiliate in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Ms. So is a junior at Elon University, a private liberal arts university in North Carolina, majoring in Communications, Human Services. Over the past few years, Ms. So has built an impressive portfolio that utilizes the latest interactive technologies and digital media to inform and inspire. Ms. So will continue to advance her career in digital media through a paid summer 2012 internship at WOOD-TV, the Company’s local NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids, MI.

In addition to the internships, both students will each receive a two-year scholarship for up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per year, which can be used towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board.

LIN Media has been awarding two-year scholarships to ambitious students interested in a wide spectrum of fields in or relating to broadcast television since 1998. In 2011, LIN Media expanded its Minority Scholarship and Training Program to include a new two-year scholarship and internship for multicultural students pursuing a career in digital media.
