MONTREAL, Quebec, October 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that it has been
awarded a contract by Burntisland Fabrications Ltd. (BiFab) for the
Detailed Design for the four jackets of the Cygnus field
development in the southern UK sector of the North Sea.
The jackets will be located at a water depth of about 20metres
in the Southern Gas Basin, approximately 150 km northeast of
Easington in UK Blocks 44/11a and 44/12a. The gas export route will
consist of a new 50-km pipeline connection to the ETS pipeline, and
run through the onshore gas terminal at Bacton. The four
jackets support two well head platforms, as well as production and
living quarters platforms. The participating interests in License
P1055 are GDF SUEZ (Operator) 38.75%, Centrica 48.75% and Bayerngas
12.5%.
The work with BiFab, a new customer, aligns with SNC-Lavalin's
strategy of expanding its offshore customer base. The award builds
on FEED optimisation work carried out to support GDFSUEZ in this
significant gas field development project, and further consolidates
SNC-Lavalin's position as a leading engineering contractor for
North Sea jackets delivered from the company's offshore engineering
centre in London.
