SMD Strategic Metals Ltd New

Strategic Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SMD) ("Strategic") announces it has acquired
3,700,000 "flow-through" common shares of Kesselrun Resources Ltd. ("Kesselrun")
at a price of $0.60 per share pursuant to a private placement, for total
subscription proceeds of $2,220,000.


Prior to the closing of this private placement, Strategic did not hold any
securities of Kesselrun. As a result of its acquisition of these 3,700,000
shares, Strategic now holds 16.2% of the 22,818,750 shares of Kesselrun
currently issued and outstanding. All of these 3,700,000 shares of Kesselrun are
held directly by Strategic and are being held for investment purposes. Strategic
may in the future take such actions in respect of its Kesselrun shares as it
deems appropriate in light of the market circumstances then existing, including
the potential purchase of additional shares of Kesselrun through open market
purchases or privately negotiated transactions, or the sale of all or a portion
of such holdings in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions to
one or more purchasers.


There are no persons acting jointly or in concert with Strategic with respect to
Strategic's shareholdings in Kesselrun, nor has Strategic entered into any
agreements in respect of its shareholdings in Kesselrun with any person with
which Strategic acts jointly or in concert.
