SALT LAKE CITY, April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bekem Metals, Inc., (OTC:BKMM.OB) (BULLETIN BOARD: BKMM.OB) has announced an interim progress report on its 2007 exploration drilling program at the Gornostai Nickel-Cobalt Deposit. The Company's original test drilling plan was to drill approximately 600 test holes totaling 15,000 meters on the South Section of the Deposit, which is on the South Bank of the Irtysh River by the end of the exploration stage on February 26, 2008. The Company's objective is to complete a detailed study of the structural characteristics of the largest ore bodies No. 14, No. 1 and ore bodies on the northern part of the section where high grade nickel deposits have been located. The drilling is being conducted on a 50 x 50-100 meter grid, which will make it possible to convert indicated and inferred resources to proved and probable reserves as development of the property progresses. Company CEO, Marat Cherdabayev, stated, "Since January 2007 a total of 12,800 meters (640 holes) have been drilled by five drilling contractors using a total of ten drill rigs on the property. The scheduled drilling has been finished on the ore body No. 14. The preliminary drilling results together with the previous data show that ore body No. 14 consists of four individual contiguous ore bodies. The length of individual ore bodies vary from 800 to 1200 meters, width from 400 to 650 meters and thickness from 0.8 to 15 m. The nickel content in ore bodies varies from 0.7 to 2.6%." Although the 2007 drilling program on the Gornostai Deposit was estimated to be completed by the end of our exploration stage, Cherdabayev noted, "Our current progress has accelerated our estimated completion date of the full drilling program to July 2007. This drilling program has made it possible to determine a correlation between the blanket-like shape ore bodies and the ore bodies associated fault and fracture zones. We expect this correlation to be crucial in the design and development of the appropriate modeling and reserves estimation of the ore body."
