AGOURA HILLS, Calif.,
May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Hutt
Corporation ("JD Hutt" or the "Company") (Pink Markets: JABA),
today announced that it has named a new Chief Executive Officer to
align with the Company's new business focus as it moves into the
sustainable apparel industry.
The company is very pleased to welcome George Powell as the Company's new CEO. George
joins the Company with over 30 years' experience in the apparel
industry. He is a proven leader with business vision, tenacity and
the ability to bring people together. His visions for the Company's
future contribution to making our world a cleaner and more
sustainable environment are significant and proven.
George Powell began his career
with the F.B.I. (Federal Bureau of Investigation) before entering
the apparel industry with JC Penney in 1978. After 14 years as a
corporate buyer and product development manager, George became the
Vice President of Corporate Accounts for Zeppelin, a young men's
premium clothing brand in early 1992. He made a substantial impact
at both companies by reducing costs, increasing margins and
amassing sales volume. Mr. Powell then joined Synergy and helped to
create a Direct-to-Retailer (Factory Direct Marketing) business
model. That model is used today by most major retailers and
provides a more transparent and profitable equation for all
parties.
"I'm excited to join JD Hutt and to have the opportunity to
continue my passion in the apparel industry, especially as it
pertains to building a business based on sustainability, "
commented George Powell. "I've seen
a lot of areas in the textile industry where waste is prevalent.
From material waste to air pollution and most significantly the
amount of water it takes to grow cotton. In some areas it can take
up to 3,600 gallons of water to grow enough cotton to make a single
pair of jeans. With our current knowledge and practices we can
reduce the harm to the environment in significant ways. My passion
on environmental issues will lead the Company to become a leader in
sustainable apparel. We will embrace the change and become the
ecopreneurs of the industry."
According to numerous studies, planet Earth is currently
experiencing serious water shortages. In the future this shortage
could escalate sharply. Recently, the UN Secretary General , at the
2013 Water Summit in Budapest,
that by 2030 nearly half of the global population could be facing
water scarcity with demand outweighing supply by 40%. It has also
been reported that 97% of the water on earth is not useable and
that of the 3% that is, only 1% is drinkable. It is with this in
mind that the Company will focus on developing every aspect of its
business to lessen its impact on water consumption with its
sustainable apparel.
