Business Wire
QRS Music Technologies, Inc. (OTC: QRSM), a leader in the
design, manufacture and distribution of pianos, piano-based audio
and multimedia products, music and piano accessories, today
announced that PNOscan™, an optical recording strip that reads the
movement of the keys without effecting the touch or response of the
piano was recently used at the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards® on
one of Steinway’s Imagine Series grand pianos, created to
commemorate John Lennon’s 70th birthday. PNOscan was also used by
major stars at last year’s awards. PNOscan allows artists to
experience the touch and feel of an acoustic piano while enjoying
all the benefits of a digital keyboard or piano.
“Use of PNOscan among professional pianists is growing rapidly.
Musicians like the incredible range of benefits that a digital
piano provides but don’t want to sacrifice the touch, feel and
sound of performing on an acoustic piano,” said Tom Dolan,
president and CEO of QRS Music Technologies, Inc. “With PNOscan
they can enjoy the best of both worlds.”
PNOscan can easily be installed on any piano without any adverse
effects to the appearance, response or sound of the piano.
Installed underneath the key bed, PNOscan uses optical sensors to
continuously sense the movement of every key as it is played. This
is translated into a MIDI output via a MIDI or USB port, creating
connectivity to the digital world and the many applications
currently available through laptops, PCs and Macs. PNOscan can be
retrofit by any QRS certified technician onto any acoustic piano.
