Business Wire
H2scan, a leader in hydrogen sensing for over 20 years,
introduces the intrinsically safe (IS) Gen 5 Hydrogen Analyzer
Series, a family of self-calibrating, solid-state sensors designed
for hazardous location applications. For the first time, H2scan's
proven Gen 5 self-calibration technology, which ensures long-term
accuracy and maintenance-free operation, is incorporated into a
robust analyzer ideal for process, safety and the rapidly growing
hydrogen economy applications.
Analytical instrument OEMs and end users who need to measure
hydrogen concentration can leverage the benefits of the IS Gen 5 to
improve hydrogen process efficiency and provide higher reliability
systems to ensure the safety of their staff and assets.
Going for Zero to Achieve More
At the core of the IS Gen 5 is H2scan's proprietary, robust
solid-state analyzer that self-calibrates to maintain long-term
accuracy for 10 years. This innovation eliminates hydrogen-related
maintenance requirements and associated operating costs compared to
traditional hydrogen analyzer systems that often require periodic
maintenance, reference gases or replacement. The IS Gen 5 analyzer
offers:
- No false alarms from cross-sensitivity to other gases
- Low total cost of ownership
- Zero manual calibration requirements
- Zero maintenance
- Zero consumables like reference or carrier gases
- Zero sensor replacements with up to 10-year operational
lifespan
- 100% real-time, accurate, hydrogen-specific continuous
monitoring
- Daisy-chaining capability
- Multiple interface standards and alarm outputs
- Ideal for leak detection in areas with space constraints
"The IS Gen 5 family achieves our goal to offer a new generation
of IS sensing for the safety and effectiveness of the hydrogen
economy, expected to grow to $1.5 trillion by 2050," said David
Meyers, H2scan CEO. "The IS Gen 5 offers a groundbreaking 10-year
solution in a small, robust package that is easy to integrate into
applications and comes with analog, digital, and alarm outputs.
This new product leverages our core hydrogen-specific technology,
proven in over 1.3 billion hours of sensing in demanding industrial
applications."
Products and Target Applications and Markets
The IS Gen 5 safety products will join the company's HY-ALERTA
brand (model 5320), and the process products will be under the
HY-OPTIMA brand (models 5331, 5332, 5333 and 5334). The five
products are designed to address a broad range of applications,
including:
- Hydrogen production and distribution (e.g., electrolyzers,
hydrogen and natural gas blending, pipeline leak detection)
- Hydrogen facility and energy storage area safety
monitoring
- Refining and petrochemical process monitoring
- Chemical process monitoring
- Fuel cell mobility applications
The HY-OPTIMA 5332 is particularly well-suited for electrolyzer
safety applications. Electrolyzers use electricity from energy
sources like solar, wind, or nuclear to break down water into
hydrogen and oxygen. The analyzer's ability to measure hydrogen in
the high-temperate, high-humidity process stream without the need
for calibration shutdowns makes it a highly desirable safety
analyzer in this growing market segment.
H2scan will showcase its new IS Gen 5 Product Family in booth
257 at the Hydrogen Technology Conference on June 26-27, 22024 in
Houston, Texas.
