One80 Intermediaries introduces a new Workers’ Compensation Program underwritten through AmTrust Financial for businesses operating in the maritime industry and companies working on navigable waters of the US or its adjoining areas

One80 Intermediaries (One80), a leading insurance wholesaler, program manager, and MGA today announced the launch of their new Longshore and Harbor (USL&H) Workers’ Compensation program through their Workers’ Compensation Practice. The program is designed to protect businesses that are operating on the navigable waters of the United States or its adjoining areas.

One80 has joined forces with AmTrust to expand our Workers’ Compensation capabilities for the Marine industry. Through this program, insurance agents and their clients will have access to Workers’ Compensation, United States Longshore & Harbor Workers (USL&H) and Marine Employers’ Liability (MEL) on one policy underwritten by AmTrust Financial (AmTrust), a leading small business and Workers’ Compensation insurance carrier in the United States.

“We are pleased to enter into this new program with One80 and combine our expertise in workers’ compensation with their robust product offerings and expertise serving the marine industry,” said Dan Hickey, Division President of AmTrust Specialty Insurance.

“We are excited to introduce this program through AmTrust,” said Andy Shaw, Managing Director and Worker’s Compensation Practice Leader, of One80 Intermediaries. “Combining AmTrust’s vast capabilities and industry leading Workers’ Compensation services with One80’s expertise and presence in the specialty program space, gives us the opportunity to deliver a superior product & coverage to our agent partners and their clients.”

USL&H coverage is federally mandated for those companies working on the navigable waterways in the US or its adjoining areas near,” said Shaw. “This coverage is needed in addition to state act Workers’ Compensation coverage as it provides additional protection for workers.” Shaw went on to say that those who are not properly covered can face large penalties and fines according to the governmental acts.

Under the new program, policies can be written for as low as $5,000 and extended coverage is available for Maritime Employers Liability, Jones Act coverage for master and crew, as well as outer continental shelf.

Some exposure examples include: Bridge Painters, Ship Building & Repair, Dock & Pier Construction, Marine Construction, Ship Cleaning, Stevedoring, Maritime Terminal Operations & Operators, Passenger Vessels, Marina Operations, Boat Building & Repair, Offshore Oil Workers, Construction, and Environmental Consultants.

“The nice thing about our USL&H Program is that USL&H and state act coverage can be included on a single policy,” said Shaw. “At One80, we work hard to make it as easy as possible for our agent partners. We have binding authority for this program, making turnarounds even faster.”
