                 PARK GROUP TO CLOSE SPUDDLES


As part of the ongoing restructuring of Park Group plc into  a
focused  financial and marketing services business, the  Board
has  decided  to close Spuddles Limited, the flavoured  potato
product manufacturing operation.

Despite  a  successful launch into a number of food retailers,
operating losses continue at a level too high to sustain while
the  Group  is  rapidly expanding its financial and  marketing
services operations.

Park  Group is currently in discussion with several  food  and
snack  manufacturing  businesses about the  possible  sale  of
Spuddles  Limited.  In the meantime, operations  at  the  site
will  be discontinued over the next month and, if a successful
acquirer  is  not  found, the facility will be  closed  on  22
January 1999.
