Catalytic Solutions, Inc.
(The "Company")
ACtifilter sg approved for u.s. epa's emerging technology program
Catalytic Solutions, Inc. (AIM:CTS and CTSU), the company behind Mixed Phase
Catalyst (MPC ) technology, is pleased to announce that its ECS Actifilter SG
diesel particulate filter (DPF) emissions reduction system, has been listed by
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the National Clean Diesel's
Emerging Technology List.
Actifilter SG, an actively regenerating DPF system utilizing the Company's
catalyst technology and a patented syngas generator developed and manufactured
by NxtGen Emissions Control, Inc., earned placement on the Emerging Technology
List by meeting the requirements of the Diesel Emission Reduction Act National
Program provisions, under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Actifilter SG, listed
for use in the retrofit of 1994 through 2006 model year on-road heavy- to
medium-heavy duty diesel engines, reduces emissions of particulate matter by 90%
and carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons by 80%. The "fit and forget" Actifilter SG
is an ideal retrofit solution for intra-city delivery trucks and urban buses, as
the active regeneration components result in no minimum exhaust temperature
requirement, and unlike any other DPF, offers a temperature range of operation
that results in a fully automated system which eliminates the need to plug the
system into a regeneration panel and keeps the DPF clean and working efficiently
- allowing the user to virtually fit the system and forget it.
Actifilter SG will remain on the Emerging Technologies List for one year with
the possible extension of an additional year, during which time the Company will
continue to work with the EPA to complete the full verification process.
Commenting on the approval, Charles F. Call, Chief Executive Officer of
Catalytic Solutions, Inc. said:
"We are extremely pleased to once again earn placement on the EPA Emerging
Technology List. The combined expertise of our Catalyst division, Heavy Duty
Diesel Systems division and NxtGen Emission Controls, Inc. has resulted in this
innovative new solution for diesel emissions reduction. Actifilter SG nicely
compliments the already broad range of U.S. EPA and CARB verified and approved
emissions control systems and products that we offer to our customers that
benefit the global environment."
About the Emerging Technology Program
The Clean Diesel Emerging Technologies Program provides an opportunity to
advance new, cutting edge technologies that reduce diesel emissions from
existing fleets. Under this competitive grant program, the EPA provides funding
assistance to eligible entities for the deployment of diesel emission reduction
technologies which have not yet been verified or certified by the EPA or CARB.
To qualify as an emerging technology, the manufacturer of the technology must be
in the initial stages of the verification process with the EPA or CARB and
listed on the EPA's Emerging Technology List, which may be found at
http://www.epa.gov/otaq/diesel/prgemerglist.htm.

About NxtGen Emission Controls:
NxtGen is a cleantech company that develops and manufactures syngas systems.
Syngas is a hydrogen-rich gas (H2 and CO) which is beneficial in the process of
engine combustion and exhaust emissions aftertreatment. NxtGen uses syngas to
aid systems that remove diesel particulate matter and nitrogen oxide from engine
exhaust. This reduces environmental impact and improves fuel economy in medium
duty diesel engines and can also be applied to light duty and heavy duty
applications. For more information on NxtGen, please visit www.nxtgen.com.
