        German Smaller Companies Investment Trust Plc ("the company")         

At a meeting of a committee of the board held on 2nd September, 1999, 99,966
ordinary shares were allotted, with effect from 1st September, 1999, as a
result of the exercise of 99,966 warrants.  These shares rank pari passu with
the existing ordinary shares of the company.

Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange for 99,966 ordinary
shares of 25p each to be admitted to the official list.  It is expected that
permission to admit the new securities will be granted by 14th September, 1999
and dealings will commence thereafter.

Copies of this announcement may be obtained free of charge during normal
business hours on any weekday (Saturdays and public holidays excepted) for a a
period of 14 days from the date hereof at the company's registered office, 10
Fleet Place, London EC4M 7RH and from the Company Announcements Office of the
London Stock Exchange for 2 business days from the date hereof.
