BOARD CHANGES
The Board of Pennon Group Plc announces that Sir Geoffrey Chipperfield and Mr
Alan Fletcher will be retiring as Non-executive Directors from the Board with
effect from the close of the Company's Annual General Meeting on 31 July 2003.
Both Sir Geoffrey Chipperfield and Alan Fletcher were appointed as Non-executive
Directors in 1993.
The Board expresses their gratitude to Sir Geoffrey Chipperfield and Alan
Fletcher for their significant contributions to the development of the Group
over the years.
As a successor to Sir Geoffrey Chipperfield, the Board is very pleased to
announce the appointment of Ms Dinah Nichols CB as a Non-executive Director with
effect from today.
Dinah Nichols retired recently as Director General, Environment, at the
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where her responsibilities
included promoting sustainable development in the UK and worldwide;
international, EU and domestic policy for climate change, protection of air,
water and land from pollution; strategies for industrial, domestic and
radioactive waste, chemicals, GMOs in the environment and energy efficiency.
Dinah Nichols is currently a Crown Estate Commissioner, a Non-executive Director
of Shires Smaller Companies Plc, a Board Member of Toynbee Housing Association
and Chairman of Toynbee Partnership Association. Previously she held various
senior appointments within Government Departments including being Head of the
Water Directorate during the period of water privatisation and the establishment
of the National Rivers Authority and Ofwat.
The Board expects to appoint a successor to Alan Fletcher in the near future.
