s1120 PCIe Accelerator Used with DataCore SANsymphony-V Storage
Virtualization Platform Boosts Response Times in Database, Content
Management, VDI Applications
sTec, Inc. (NASDAQ: STEC), a leading global provider of solid-state
storage solutions, today announced that the sTec® s1120 PCIe
Accelerator is "DataCore™ Ready," thus validating the drive's
interoperability with the SANsymphony™-V storage virtualization
platform from DataCore Software. Building storage systems
around sTec's PCI Express (PCIe)-based s1120, along with DataCore's
marquis virtualization and hypervisor software, greatly improves
response times and delivers impressive price/performance value to
Web content, database and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
applications.
"sTec's high-performance SSD solutions used with DataCore's
storage virtualization platform offer businesses an exceptional
value," said Carlos M. Carreras, vice president of alliances and
business development at DataCore Software. "That the s1120 PCIe
Accelerator is now 'DataCore Ready' enables organizations to take
advantage of SANsymphony-V's rich storage virtualization features,
including high availability and the capability to seamlessly
integrate sTec's SSDs with their existing storage systems, ensuring
instant performance improvement with minimal disruption."
The s1120, available with up to two terabytes (TB) of capacity
and in a version with unlimited writes, enables multiple
solid-state drives (SSDs) to be deployed on a single
server. It features data-protection functionality such as
PowerSafe™ technology that mitigates data loss in the event of a
power failure. The s1120 is ideal for accelerating
applications such as data analytics, statistical analysis and
modeling, and video imaging, editing and sharing.
SANsymphony-V provides centralized storage management under a
single pane of control to simplify and optimize existing storage
assets, while delivering enterprise-class features. The DataCore
Ready program identifies solutions such as the s1120 that are
trusted to enhance infrastructures powered by the company's
SANsymphony-V storage virtualization platform. Only third-party
products that successfully meet the verification criteria set by
DataCore are qualified as DataCore Ready.
Recent benchmarking of the drives by international systems
integrator losstech GmbH delivered impressive performance, latency
and scalability results, and highlighted the various ways IT
professionals can build a Tier-One fast storage layer with
SANsymphony-V and sTec SSDs. In these benchmarking tests, the
s1120 demonstrated high performance and, because it uses minimal
host resources, very low latencies.
"Organizations that require reliable, high-performance storage
solutions for their Web, database and VDI applications need to
address a wide range of critical factors, not the least of them
being response times," said Kim Gardner, senior director of sales
for the EMEA region at sTec. "Achieving 'DataCore Ready'
status helps assure those organizations that they can deploy sTec
solid-state storage solutions with DataCore SANsymphony-V software
in servers to achieve significant response-time improvements for
those applications."
