WESTMINSTER, Colo., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Avurt International, Inc. ("Avurt"), which has executed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Security With Advanced Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWATNASDAQ:SWATW), ("SWAT") announced that Avurt, in conjunction with its pending new parent company, successfully completed the first public demonstration of its new non-lethal launcher as part of a financial conference held in Las Vegas. "I was very excited to demonstrate the prototype of our first product to our investors and the investment community," said Scott Sutton, President of Avurt. "Our engineering firm, Syncroness, Inc. of Westminster, Colorado, has done an outstanding job with the product development. For our first prototypes to perform this well firing all five shots accurately, using the laser aiming system is very exciting," added Sutton. Avurt's first launcher is a compact five-shot device that shoots an irritant filled projectile capable of disabling an attacker or suspect. The difference between the new Avurt launcher and products currently available is dramatic. Its patent pending technology utilizes several unique design features greatly increasing the reliability and durability compared to the launchers currently in use. "We've eliminated the use of gaskets and 'O-rings', both frequent causes of failures in current product designs, while creating a unique nitrogen based propellant system for reliability," said Michael Cox, Avurt's VP of Engineering. "Our design goals included a long list of stringent specifications which had to be designed in a small and compact size. These demands as well as the size constraints, took us to a ground-up engineering process. We knew reliability of the product was critical so that when the user fired our product that it worked, and worked consistently," Cox added. The device accurately fires a projectile at a distance of at least 50 feet, that breaks on impact dispersing a cloud of potent pepper based powder. This powder is five times more powerful than aerosol pepper spray, causing a severe debilitating reaction in the target area and is an organic non-lethal substance, which is highly effective on both humans and animals. Following requests from current agency customers and significant interest by consumers, the device was developed after extensive customer and focus group surveys and is designed to be used by federal and state agencies, security guard organizations, delivery service personnel, animal control officers as well as individual consumers. Initial inquiries also indicate a potential market opportunity to international customers. The pending acquisition of Vizer and Avurt, two commonly controlled companies, was recently announced by SWAT and are anticipated to close prior to year end, upon SWAT shareholder approval.
