Callaway Golf Jumps 5% Late on Wide Q1 Beat, Strong FY14 Guidance
05:00 PM EDT, 04/23/2014 (MT Newswires) -- Shares of Callaway Golf Co(ELY) are surging after-hours as the company reports a strong Q1 performance and FY14 guidance compared to the year-ago performance and consensus by analysts polled by Capital IQ.

The company recorded Q1 EPS of $0.61, easily topping consensus of $0.44, and 30% higher than EPS of $0.47 a year ago. Revenue of $352 million beat analyst estimates for $311 million and increased 22% compared to $288 million a year ago.

For FY14, ELY sees EPS between $0.12-$0.16 on revenues of $880 million to $900 million vs. consensus of $0.19 on revenue of $896 million.

ELY is up 4.7% at $10.15 after-hours, near the stock's 52-week high of $10.35.

I look at it as diversification. I trade quite a bit daily and make adjustments as I see fit. l tell my fafamily and friends to buy and keep lots of cash, wait a month or quarter and add to losing positions. It is that simple. I also recommend a five penny stocks to add some spice, but under 5% of the portfolio.

detearing, I said it was a growth stock, but didn't say it was a good one, haha! Those are all great long-term holds. You don't feel like that many stocks effect and hinder your performance?

NKE is like KO, they no go no where. Long term l like KO BA HOV PHM KBH BZH X AKS AAL BYD LVS WYNN KKD CZR CACQ MGM PPC TSN...Igot in and continue to hold over 50 stocks most long term. XIDEQ is my current Q stock l play...AAMRQ was my stock of the year, in under 40 pennies.

detearing, I will take a gander. I hear you out, I'd probably want some Italian food before I go. I looked at the other company. I did some quick due diligence on each of the 4 companies, I didn't dig down to the roots though this is what I conclude. Nike, Inc. (NKE) is better growth stock and Calloway Golf (ELY) is better value.
