Statoil ASA (STL.OS), the Norwegian oil giant, said Thursday it
has awarded A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S's (MAERSK-B.KO) drilling arm
Maersk Drilling a contract worth $605 million for chartering a new
jack-up rig for the Dagny field on the Norwegian continental
shelf.
MAIN FACTS:
-The contract runs for four years with two one-year options.
-The jack-up rig will drill on the Dagny oil and gas field in
the North Sea.
-The investment decision is expected at the end of 2012 or the
beginning of 2013, with estimated production start at the end of
2016.
-Statoil expects total investments of NOK25B to NOK30B for the
Dagny and Eirin fields including rig chartering and drilling
costs.
-At 1421 GMT shares in Maersk were trading 1.5% higher at
DKK37,260, while shares in Statoil were 0.3% lower at
NOK137.30.
