I Googled " New York scanners in subway "
AI Overview
Learn more
New York City's subway system piloted AI-powered weapons scanners in a few stations this summer. The program was intended to deter violence, but critics called it a failure.
How it worked
The scanners were made by Evolv and were intended to detect guns and their location on a person's body.
The scanners were not supposed to alert to everyday items like phones and laptops, but did in some cases.
What the program found
During the pilot, the scanners falsely alerted more than 100 times, but did not detect any passengers with firearms.
How it was received
The program was met with skepticism from riders and civil liberties groups.
Some argued that the program was neither feasible nor constitutional.
Others raised concerns that the program could lead to racial profiling.
What happened next
The pilot program ended, and critics called it a failure.
The company behind the scanners has faced scrutiny from federal regulators and lawsuits.
The company has been accused of misleading customers and investors about the technology's capabilities.

That is 100% accurate...

My assumption is Liberty establishes its base customer this year…DHS/TSA in line with revenue projections. Maybe late this year establishes extra USA testing/light volume and next year open “flood gates” to double revenue again in line with projections. Lastly shoe scanner was “teased” last MAY (2024) with a deadline for 24 months to availability…so expect 2026 as release date for future growth.

In response to passenger and airport feedback about security wait times, DHS and TSA have collaborated to develop a new shoe scanning prototype. It promises considerable time savings and lets passengers keep their shoes on by scanning footwear in two seconds with a five-second image processing time. As development continues, DHS plans to automate image reviews, ensuring that TSA agents only need to spend time reviewing irregularities —like a hidden plastic knife.
Plans to integrate this tech into passenger screening systems are already underway! According to the DHS, we may see these shoe scanners in select airports as soon as 2027.
