DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MTC Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq Global Select Market: MTCT), an industry-recognized provider of aircraft modernization and sustainment, professional services, C4ISR, and logistics solutions to the Department of Defense and national security agencies, announced today it has been awarded a $5.1 million potential value Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool (FAST) task order to modify Air National Guard C-130 aircraft by installing a speaker-based Active Noise Cancellation System (ANCS) in the aircraft cockpits. MTC will perform the program management, integration engineering and installation work, while the cockpit ANCS components will be provided by vendor partner, Ultra Electronics Controls of the United Kingdom. Installation kit parts procurement and assembly will be performed by Global Aviation Technologies of Wichita, Kansas. The integration work will be performed by MTC's Aerospace Integration Division in Crestview, Florida, with the installations performed by MTC contractor field teams at Air National Guard bases. Awarded by the 330th Aircraft Sustainment Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, the task calls for a one-year basic period of performance for non-recurring engineering and trial kit installation. The contract contains an option for manufacture and installation of up to twelve additional systems following the basic period. This aircraft modernization program adapts Ultra Electronics' UltraQuiet(TM) cabin and cockpit quieting noise cancellation technology fielded in civilian turboprop and jet aircraft, and follows a successful technology demonstration program which delivered a significant reduction in the propeller noise in the C-130 cockpit. "MTC is pleased to be selected to bring this revolutionary technology to Air National Guard C-130 aircrews. The significant reduction in cockpit noise, the accompanying reduction in crew fatigue and increase in ease of communication delivered by the ANCS will yield great benefits to the Warfighter," said Bob Shuey, MTC Senior Vice President and Director of the Aerospace Integration Division. "We are delighted to be partnered with an innovative company like Ultra Electronics, and we are excited about the possibilities of extending this technology across the C-130 fleet." MTC delivers Warfighter solutions involving systems engineering, information technology, intelligence, and program management services primarily to the Department of Defense.
