Citizens for a New Delaware Way, a $1 million Political Action Committee, is also calling on the former staffers from the Hall-Long campaign to come forward if they have any information on her campaign finance improprieties

Today, following the shocking revelations brought to light this week that DE Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long broke the law dozens of times as part of an elaborate effort to skirt campaign finance laws and basic ethical standards for elected officials, the Citizens for a New Delaware Way (CNDW) PAC released the following statement:

“This week’s shocking report that Bethany Hall-Long broke Delaware law dozens of times by improperly reporting the hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars she paid to herself and her husband and failed to submit a financial audit to the State Board of Elections – all while accepting campaign donations far exceeding legal limits – make it clear that she is not fit to serve this state as Governor.

“For those who have been paying close attention to Delaware’s broken politics, this is beginning to sound like a broken record. But this week we have seen the tides shift in real time, as courageous Delaware leaders such as House Representative Sophie Phillips stated clearly: Hall-Long has “repeatedly broken the law and broken our trust.”

“But we need more to come forward for the good of Delaware and the people who put their faith in its institutions, beginning with the senior leadership of the State’s Democratic Party.

“Further, as reports of the Lieutenant Governor’s campaign staff and volunteers resigning due to the alarming violations she is guilty of, we are eager to talk to any and all former staffers about what really transpired and encourage them to come forward.

“With so many questions still unanswered, it is critical that this report not be the end of the investigation into the Lieutenant Governor – who must be held accountable for her blatant disregard for Delaware law. For the good of the state, Bethany Hall-Long must drop out of the Governor’s race immediately.”
