SÃO PAULO--New Fortress Energy said Monday it will begin commercial operations at its newest liquid natural gas import terminal in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina in January after chartering a floating storage and regasification unit from Petrobras.

NFE said the charter of the FSRU will start in December and the unit will be deployed immediately to the Terminal Gas Sul facility in Santa Catarina, which will start commercial operations ahead of schedule.

The FSRU will be sub-chartered through Petrobras until the end of that company's contract, then NFE will charter it directly from owner Energos Infrastructure on a long-term basis, NFE said.

The Terminal Gas Sul terminal will give NFE a high-growth opportunity via its connection to the pipeline system in southern Brazil, NFE said.
