Settlement of claims against motorway contractors 
 
The Company reports that on 1 November 2010 it executed an agreement (the 
"Settlement Agreement") with a construction joint venture (the "Counterparty") 
providing for the settlement of the claims with action numbers CA23/06 and 
A503/07 brought by the Company against the Counterparty in the Court of Session 
in Scotland in relation to a dispute regarding the design and construction of a 
section (the "Section") of the A74(M) in Scotland constructed by the 
Counterparty pursuant to a certain construction contract dated 30 April 1997. 
Under the terms of the Settlement Agreement, the Counterparty is obliged to pay 
the Company GBP18,000,000 (eighteen million pounds sterling) within 10 working 
days of execution of the Settlement Agreement. The Company considers that the 
amount payable under the Settlement Agreement is adequate to cover future 
remedial costs in relation to the Section. 
The above is intended to satisfy the Company's obligation under Disclosure and 
Transparency Rule 2.2.1.
