The Longmead Group plc (the "Company")

PLACING

The Longmead Group plc announces that it has, today, agreed to place 1,975,000
new ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 20p each, with
institutional and other investors, conditional upon the outcome of an
Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company to be held on 22 February 2002 and
the admission of the shares to trading on the Alternative Investment Market of
the London Stock Exchange ("AIM"). Application will be made for the admission of
these shares to trading on AIM, with trading anticipated to commence on 25
February 2002.

The placing will raise £395,000, before expenses, which will be used to expand
the Company's activities.
