Teekay Corp. -10%, Teekay Offshore -9% after earnings

Teekay Corp. (TK -9.9%) and Teekay Offshore Partners (TOO -8.8%) are sharply lower after reporting Q1 earnings results and the cancellation of a contract with Petrobras (PBR -14.6%).

TK reports a Q1 loss of $0.41/share on 15% lower revenues Y/Y of $543.5M, and TOO comes in with Q1 earnings of $0.10/share on 10% lower revenues of $276M.

TOO says it is disputing the grounds for PBR's termination of the Arendal Spirit UMS charter contract and is reviewing its legal options.

However, Teekay Tankers (TNK +1.8%) is higher after missing Q1 earnings estimates but posting better than expected revenue of $125M.

Worldwide storage problems in crude oil market. TK is in sweetspot for solving storage problems.

Well….back in at 6.82 close to the 52 week low again for another round towards 10. This one may take longer but not afraid to add either if the opportunity presents itself. I am a swing trader and starting to nibble on some long term energies as well….NIBBLE only…..those companies I think will survive the downturn.

I agree and look at the dividend cut as necessary and a positive long run solution to better the balance sheet. What Insm hoping is the shares don't go down much further to year end tax selling and fund portfolio re-balancing.

You are absolutely justified in being concerned about the sector.
Some of the difficulties will actually work to TK's advantage, such
as floating storage.

$10 seems to be a reasonable goal, in light of a 58% drop today.

Someone pointed out that TK dropped the dividend awhile back, but quickly restored it.

I applaud the company for doing what it needed to do, and what makes sense.

I am hoping to see $10 to sell I am nervous about Teejay being in the shipping and energy sector.

Sell off was totally overdone, there are issues, but mainly it was a
reaction to dividend cut, which is exactly what the company should be
doing.
