Curtiss-Wright Awarded $7.2 Million Contract From Boeing Motion Control Segment to Supply Proprietary Aircraft Canopy Actuators for F/A-18 ROSELAND, N.J., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW; CW.B) has received a new contract from The Boeing Company to supply proprietary aircraft canopy actuators for the F/A-18 Super Hornet. The contract is valued at up to $7.2 million over a five-year-period at current projected aircraft production levels. Curtiss-Wright's proprietary actuator, which is used to open and close the aircraft's canopy, was chosen because of its unique low-weight and low-cost design, which will enable some commonality of parts on both the "E" (single-seat) and "F" (dual-seat) versions of theSuper Hornet. "Our ability to design highly integrated subsystems and components is a great advantage for our customers because it provides better cost structures," said Martin R. Benante, Chairman and CEO. Development work has begun on the program and product shipments, which include both original equipment and spares, are expected to begin in 2005.
