Nortel Networks to Delist its Common Shares from the London Stock Exchange

BRAMPTON, Ontario - Nortel Networks* (NYSE/TSE:NT) today announced that Nortel
Networks has given notice to delist its common shares from the London Stock
Exchange.  The delisting is to take effect at the close of trading on February
28, 2000.

Nortel Networks has decided to delist from the London Stock Exchange given that
its common shares have not traded on the London Stock Exchange since August,
1996.  The listings of Nortel Networks' common shares on The Toronto Stock
Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange provide sufficient ongoing liquidity to
Nortel Networks' shareholders.
