HiWave's SoundSleeve tablet speaker concept adopted for 'onanoff's' iPad Sound Cover

- Boosts iPad audio by over 300%, improves sound quality and gives better bass output -

Cambridge, UK, May 21, 2012: HiWave Technologies (LSE:HIW), which develops and sells electronic components and devices that utilise innovative sound and touch technologies, announces its HiAM-SS2S SoundSleeve reference platform, a tablet PC case with built-in stereo speaker, has been adopted and customised by Nordic Enterprise's 'onanoff' for its Sound Cover(TM) iPad case.

Launched in February 2012, 'onanoff's' Sound Cover(TM) uses HiWave's SoundSleeve excited panel concept to boost the iPad 2 and iPad 3's volume by 300 per cent. (From the normal iPad: 87dB, to Sound Cover(TM): 101+14dB) and significantly expands the iPad's audio frequency range (from the normal iPad: 400Hz-6kHz to Sound Cover(TM): 150Hz-15kHz).

The simplicity of the HiWave SoundSleeve concept enabled 'onanoff' to develop the concept and to take the Sound Cover(TM) to market in less than a year.

'onanoff' customised the lightweight honeycomb aluminium panel with a pair of HiWave's 2Watt low profile audio exciters (HiAX25C02-8/LP), adding a leather cover and aluminium kickstand to create the eye-catching and functional design, available in black, red or blue. The Sound Cover(TM) connects to the iPad via a 3.5mm jack and uses a 1600mAh Li-ion battery to deliver 9 hours of playback from a single charge. A wireless, Bluetooth model is also currently in development according to 'onanoff'.
