Is anyone still watching this board? I've been steadily accumulating UNM, but can't figure out why it's still priced to yield a 6%+ dividend.

I used to work at unum. I personally would not consider moving back in until the low teens. Good divy though to offset volatility.

Watch This Technical Chart Level For Unum Group $UNM

Unum Group (NYSE:UNM) provides group and individual disability insurance and group life insurance mainly in the United States and United Kingdom. This stock topped out in early January 2018 at $58.73. Since that peak in the share price the stock has plunged to $39.31 a share. Traders and investors should note that the stock is trading below its important 50 and 200-day moving averages. This chart formation will usually signal further downside for the stock. Trader should now look at the $35.00 area for major support on the charts. This important support level is where the stock broke out in November 2016. Often, prior breakout level will serve as major support when retested. This is a level where I will be interested in trading UNM stock on the long side.

Very nice move to a new 52 week high! Now let's get to $40 already!

Maybe we are ready to make a steady climb to $40?

Okay today was the day! Nice move.

Nice bounce today, looks like we are about ready for some new 52 week highs.

Now that is a break, we should start moving again for a while.

Next leg up!

Very strong break of $30 today. How long until $40? I say before end of year.

This is a beauty. Maybe $40 by years end is doable.

Looking great here! We should break through that $30 range before too long.

I expect tomorrow we will break into a new 52 week high.

I think we could break that 28.35 and move on to the $30s

Great follow through on this breakout. At some point it has to consolidate before the next leg up.

I agree but expect we will see this thing really move this year. The company has been doing this quarter after quarter:

Shares Outstanding

The Company’s average number of shares outstanding, assuming dilution, was 273.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2012, compared to 292.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2011. Shares outstanding totaled 270.2 million at December 31, 2012. During the fourth quarter of 2012, the Company repurchased approximately 4.9 million shares at a cost of $100.1 million.

I think we could see this much higher than the $40s if the repurchase continues as it is. If they can buy back another 20 million this year it really should start to move.... especially if their earnings continue.

I will be happy with $32, 10 X EPS and 1 X book. Low dividend hinders further appreciation.

I expect this will be at $40+ by year end.

This is looking good. A lot of people buying and holding. I think we could see a fast run to the $24.00 range.

Maybe the 3rd time is a charm here? Once we get a close that breaks that resistance around the 20.92 area this should run nicely.

Beautiful break at 21.00. I expect it to pull back a bit, but this this is going to move nicely over the next few weeks. Well I think election night tonight could have it crushed if Obama wins. If he win I think we see a huge pullback this week.

A price target of 35+ is very reasonable expectation over the next few years... That is if the collapse of the US dollar does not happen first.

Shares Outstanding

The Company’s average number of shares outstanding, assuming dilution, was 278.5 million for the third quarter of 2012, compared to 299.2 million for the third quarter of 2011. Shares outstanding totaled 275.1 million at September 30, 2012. During the third quarter of 2012, the Company repurchased approximately 5.1 million shares at a cost of $100.2 million.

Share Repurchase Authorization

During the third quarter of 2012, the Company announced that its Board of Directors approved a $750 million share repurchase program with an expiration date of January 2014. This new authorization supersedes and replaces the previous authorization for $1 billion that was scheduled to expire in August 2012.

Looks like unum might have support here. With 2 down days it has just pulled back a little. Very nice! I think we could see $25 by year end.

I think we will break $21 this time. Would love to see $25 in the next month or so.

Nice run today and yesterday hitting 20.85 now

Nice to break the $20.00. I am in heavy at $19.75. Looking for profit taking in the $23.00 range. The company has been buying back shares for a long time. It could run even higher. I have been in for a few weeks now and expect to be in this for another couple months.
