    Merrill Lynch New Energy Technology plc - New Director

The Board of Merrill Lynch New Energy Technology plc is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr John E Roberts CBE as a non-executive director of the Company
with effect from 29 June 2007.

Dr Roberts is a non executive director of International Power plc and of Royal
Bank of Canada Europe Limited.

Dr Roberts does not have any interest in the Company's shares at the date of
his appointment.

There are no details in respect of Dr Roberts that require disclosure under
paragraph 9.6.13 R (2) to (6) of the Listing Rules.
