Benjamin Moore & Co., a paint company that is part of the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. portfolio, has named a new chairman and chief executive.

Benjamin Moore said Tuesday chief operating officer and president, Dan Calkins, is CEO and chairman of the firm, effectively immediately.

Mike Searles, who was CEO of the paint company, is retiring. He was CEO since 2013.

Mr. Calkins reports to Greg Abel, vice chairman at Berkshire Hathaway, Benjamin Moore said. Mr. Calkins has been at the firm since 1987.
