July 20, 2021 – Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) (NYSE: SQM; Santiago Stock Exchange: SQM-B, SQM-A)
informs that yesterday at approximately 6:00pm there was a fire that affected two iodide storage ponds located in its Nueva Victoria production
site in the Pozo Almonte district. The fire was contained later in the evening and no injuries were reported.
We are investigating the potential causes of this
fire, and it is still too early to assess any possible damage that the heat from the flames could have caused to the nearby iodide plants.
For that reason, we have stopped operations at two of the three iodide production modules, with one of them remaining operational which
represents approximately 40% of the nominal capacity in Nueva Victoria. The Company does not currently have sufficient information to
allow us to determine how much time will be needed to fix any damage. As soon as this information is available, it will be made public.
