Seems to be some possible potential here in the not too distant future. Anyone home?

Here are a bunch of new acronyms for the field. This is getting complicated! https://www.pv-magazine.com/2021/01/20/the-best-redox-flow-battery-tech/

The researchers also looked at alternative aqueous inorganic pure flow batteries such as vanadium-oxygen redox flow batteries (VORFBs), vanadium–bromine redox flow batteries (VBFBs), hydrogen–bromine flow batteries (HBFBs), polyoxometalates-based redox flow batteries (POMs-RFBs), and aqueous organic redox flow batteries (AORFBs). In addition, they analyzed different materials for electrolytes and membranes. They presented the case for semi-solid flow batteries (SSFBs) and solid targeted/mediated/boosted flow batteries (SMFBs).

They also studied hybrid flow/non-flow devices such as metal-solution-based redox pair flow batteries, as well as zinc-based, iron-based, copper-based or metal air-based redox flow storage systems. In addition, the scientists looked at the potential of solar redox flow batteries (SRFBs), air-breathing sulfur flow batteries, and metal-CO2 batteries.

I found this research project ............. “A redox-flow battery has a large storage capacity, but can only be charged and discharged slowly,” explained Karl-Heinz Pettinger, scientific director of the Energy Technology Center at Landshut University of Applied Sciences and coordinator of the project. “The supercapacitor, on the other hand, has short charging times with a low energy density. Hybridization is intended to create an energy storage system that combines the advantages of both systems: high storage capacity and high performance.”

The hybrid system should be able to flexibly balance the electricity and energy requirements in the event of critical grid conditions such as high load or generation peaks — whether for seconds or entire days.... ...........copied from........ https://www.pv-magazine.com/2021/01/22/european-scientists-want-to-develop-hybrid-vanadium-redox-flow-battery-with-supercapacitor/

I keep looking but not finding a lot of news, with projects in construction I guess it's not surprising. This pub comes free to me and sometimes inspires a second look at stock or ideas.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your points. Energy storage will be huge as we transition away from fossil fuels, but which horse to back??????

I have a toe in the water on Invinity (Jersey Based). The long duration Battery is the type of storage we need. Possibly a buyout candidate or a real growth company, I also bought a speculative small position into a vanadium Mining company. (bigger risk)
This is a long term hold for me.
Utility-Scale Storage is an opportunity for big growth. Which horse to ride is the question. Lithium-Ion Battery is the quarterhorse of the prospects. Utilities need a thoroughbred that can go for the mile. I have chosen INvinity as my bet.

Invinity is as American as Jersey and Gurnsey milk cows.

Robinhood should pick up this ADR.

Joe in Investor relations answered my e-mail. I thought that was cool.

Anyone have any thoughts on Invinity? I think Vanadium flow batteries will play a huge role in power in the coming years, and I’m looking for the best horse to bet on.

It looks like California has taken an interest:
