Yes, the approval for a share buyback can expire, depending on the jurisdiction and the specific terms set by the company or its governing body.

United States: In the U.S., share buyback programs authorized by a company's board of directors typically do not have a statutory expiration date. However, companies often specify a time frame for the program's completion in their announcements or board resolutions. Open-market repurchase programs, for instance, can span months or even years, but they are subject to daily buyback limits under SEC Rule 10b-1817.

United Kingdom: Under UK law, shareholder approval for a share buyback via a special resolution is valid for up to five years unless a shorter period is specified in the resolution itself. After this period, a new resolution would be required to authorize further buybacks.

In both cases, companies must comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies regarding timing and disclosure of buybacks.

The Irishman, When Covid first hit I advised friends
& family to take Vitamin D3 supplements (5,000 IU
per day) and Selenium ( Best source are Brazil Nuts-
but no more than one or two per day...Just having a
few every week is good.) For digestive issues I would
suggest eating a few apples and pears (all with the skin)
every week. Vascepa may help but make certain one
takes it with or after a meal that has some fat. The same
with Vitamin D3...Take it also with a meal with some fat
which could be mixed nuts (for example.) My advice may
or may not help, but I don't see it as being harmful in any
way. Hope your wife gets better!

Irishman, sorry to hear your wife has been having all the difficulties. I am certainly not the board expert on all the benefits of V on the body, but one of the benefits of taking V is a reduction in inflammation in the body which of course is a very good thing. Good luck.

correction-days to cover should be 14.41 +1.97, a/o 1/15/25 days to cover were 12.70.
FYI days to cover are based on the avg 30 day volume. It's more detailed but that's the basic idea of days to cover.

Greetings…
Just looking for some advice. Before I ask, let me just say this: I still have faith in Vascepa and Amarin. I pray that God will make this all right.

My wife had COVID multiple times. We both took the J&J vaccine. We didn’t want to but in order to see our grandchildren it had to happen. Having said that my wife has been experiencing severe issues with body pain, coughing, headaches, change of taste, digestive issues, fogginess and a few other issues over the last few years. She has had bloodwork done and multiple tests. So far? No cause.
It is believed that COVID can mess with the immune system. So, my question is this: Can Vascepa be a possible solution to minimizing the inflammation?
Is there any one on this board with insight and or experience with this?

I appreciate any input.
Blessings

For anyone interested in AMRN short position reported every 2 wks see below. FYI I tried to copy and paste but Fido uses some kind of formatting that can't be shared.

Short Interest
Short % of Interest a/o 1/31/25 4.16%
Shares Short 16.85 (m)million -0.34%
Days to cover a/o 2/16 14.41
Prior short interest a/o 1/15/25 17.19 (m)
Prior days to cover 17.19

So based on the most recent report a/o 2/16/25 the above data shows short interest has decreased slightly

when I asked copilot who the largest shareholders of amarin pharma are, this list showed up. I don't know the accuracy.
As of the latest data, the top shareholders of Amarin Pharma (AMRN) include:

Arete Wealth Advisors LLC - $16.58 billion Anyone know these guys? must be a mistake since there's no way that amt is correct.

Kynam Capital Management LP - $11.06 million

DG Capital Management LLC - $4.70 million

ExodusPoint Capital Management LP - $4.63 million

Price Jennifer C. - $2.64 million

Gratus Capital LLC - $2.20 million

SCP Investment LP - $2.18 million

These institutions hold significant stakes in Amarin, reflecting their confidence in the company's potential.

Is there anything specific you'd like to know about Amarin or its shareholders?

We have learned from multiple studies including this one that it’s not about the placebo or even about the TG’s.

The drugs used in PROMINENT & STRENGTH failed to achieve any of their Endpoints in spite of having higher TG reductions than REDUCE-IT. It doesn’t surprise me at all that patients with mild to moderate hypertriglyceridemia did not express similar magnitudes of CV risk.

As I’ve been saying, in my non-professional  opinion, It’s not about the TG’s, it’s the EPA Stupid!

New England Asset Management is a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Re, an insurance company owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

https://www.neamgroup.com/our-story

They filed a 13F-HR on Feb 14, which presents holdings as of Dec 31 2024. At that time, they owned Pfizer shares.

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1004244/000108514625001696/xslForm13F_X02/infotable.xml

To determine whether they increased/decreased ownership, you'd need to look at the previous filing.

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1004244/000108514624005429/xslForm13F_X02/infotable.xml

If you compare the two, you'll find that NEAM decreased their share holdings of Pfizer between Sep 30 and Dec 31. As these reports are just snapshots in time, there's no way of knowing how frequently they trade, nor what their current holdings are.

The two sec.gov links above don't give any indication as to which date they refer. To determine that, you need to click on the "Filing" box next to each 13F-HR listing at this link:

SK, I had not heard until I saw your post today.  Doing some very quick and abbreviated search I am coming up with mixed and contradictory stories, except for the following.  Apparently Berkshire bought New England Asset Management, and through that vehicle shares of PFE are being bought.  The two things I dislike is that the reporting takes 45 days before we find out what they are doing and then if they are heavily invested then you have to worry that they dump it.  But I will take all that if we can get Buffett involved and others will follow.

Thanks

Supreme Court dockets are updated at varying speeds depending on the type of filing and its review process:

Electronic Filings: Most subsequent filings in a case are updated on the docket within 10-15 minutes of submission through the electronic filing system, provided they do not require review by the Clerk’s Office.

Paper Filings: Documents submitted in paper form, such as certiorari petitions or case-initiating documents, are added to the docket only after being reviewed and accepted by the Clerk’s Office. This process can take several days, especially if the documents are mailed to the Court.

Emergency Applications: For urgent cases requiring immediate attention, such as stays of execution or procedural matters, filings may be expedited. However, these still require direct contact with the Clerk’s Office to ensure prompt action
.
Thus, while updates for routine electronic filings are quick, more complex or paper-based submissions depend on administrative review and may take longer.

Application (24A652) to extend the time to file a petition for a writ of certiorari from January 15, 2025 to February 14, 2025, submitted to The Chief Justice.

DMC, because Morgan Stanley is a prime broker it may not be specifically for their own account but for other funds managers who use Morgan Stanley as their prime broker. Pls see below explanation.

When a brokerage firm files a Form 13F, it is reporting the holdings of its own accounts as well as any accounts for which it exercises investment discretion and has assets under management of $100 million or more. This includes accounts for which the firm acts as an investment adviser or has discretionary authority.

It is an opinion (fundamentally) that is CONFIRMED by technical factors, making a high reward/low risk trade entry. Unlike an opinion, hope or gut feeling that conflicts with technical factors(unconfirmed) = the basis of Confirmation bias.

My reason for debating you on this topic is your incessant opinion that all price action is fundamentally driven. It is not. There are unique instances when price action is driven by both, hence my quote
When the fundamentals suggest a trade and technical factors confirm that signal, you have a very powerful combination. That combination is the most optimal way to win in the market. However, when only one and not the other present, you simply have a contra-trend trade - which in the case of AMRN - likely burns out (reverses) when trendline resistance is encountered. Contra-trend trades can produce profits, but only if TA is used to govern entry/exit and risk management.

There is no point in continuing this back and forth ... I'm no longer willing to play Ring Around the Rosie with you.

P.S. Here are a few more of yours that should help end the debate.

FFS. thx. re
From a TA perspective the outlook is bleak; a fresh Death Cross on the heels of a failed upthrust of the down sloping 200MA and a weak MACD that is rolling over (Impulse has turned red). Down volume is expanding as the last 2 days have printed 2 of possibly 3 black Crow candles (very bearish).

If we aren't higher then today .... 30-90 days from now.... I'll be happy to say you were right .
I think its very hard if not impossible to pick exact bottoms ...so we'll see
And this post when you mocked all those posters who turned bearish on the PPS

Years ago I posted about keeping a list of all the over the top AMRN bulls . In reality I only kept track of the positions of JL and Raf ...so sorry to disappoint all of you who thought you were being tracked .
Now I'm starting a list of all those who are so bearish on AMRN ...feel free to add yourself to this list if you feel AMRN is likely to test $1
So far I have FFS , John ( the one in Canada ) BBI ( expects AMRN to drift down to its annual low ) , johnhanque and seve...sound pretty negative ,goldenflyer ( its a losing proposition buying this stock )

So to start ..those bearish on AMRN at recent levels
FFS,
John
BBI
Johnanque and Seve
Golden flyer
Free free to add yourself to the list if you share the views of those listed above

For a dude with multiple names and over 21,675 posts like the above ... it makes me wonder why you litter on this board, yet haven't bought or sold the stock for 9 months? Why is that? I wouldn't bother asking if you actually contributed helpful/useful information relative to the stock price of AMRN.

FFS. isn't this an opinion When the fundamentals suggest a trade and technical factors confirm that signal, you have a very powerful combination.

By the way I agree with the approach of fundamentals suggesting a trade and technical factors confirming that signal .
I agree I have a bias re AMRN . I take the drug Vascepa / IPE ...but stop loss's have always preventing me from riding this or any position all the way down.

That is my point with you. You base everything on "Conditional Opinion"..
How can you safely invest/trade on conditional opinion? You were long AMRN based on conditional opinion. Because of your FOMO induced conformational bias (that you ironically blame everyone for), you were willing to multiply your mistake 5 times!

Actually I might 5X my position ....see how I feel tomorrow .
Buying at $1.19
Not suggesting anyone do like wise.
Do your own DD and know your risk tolerance .

Reasons for buying
Seems very undervalued based on cash on hand and total inventory .
A bet that Denner will find a way to at least get the PPS up to his breakeven price

The stock price turned against you and proceeded to plunge to a low of .65/ share.

True fundamental investing does not include the words opinion, feel, seems, or bet. Fundamental investing is the process of gaming probabilities of future gains through a mix of current, past and projected metrics; P/S, P/E, EPS, etc.. In fact, O'Shaughnessy in his book What Works on Wall Street developed his popular Cornerstone Growth Strategy that searched for stocks from the all stocks universe which:

• Have a capitalization of $150 million or more.
• Have earnings gains for five consecutive years.
• Have price-to-sales ratios below 1.5.
• Display the best one-year price performance in the all stocks group.

These stocks have been shown to have an optimal mix between growth and Sharpe ratio, providing some of the highest/safest returns in the market over time.

AMRN ranks poor in all those criteria, leaving you with only hope of an event and that's a "bet," not an investment.

Don't get me wrong, I use FA criteria, but only in this order:
The key principle is to use fundamental information as an idea generator and technical studies as a trigger. The technical can either release you to pursue that trade or stop you from going any further.
No matter how good a fundamental story, if the technical factors do not confirm it, there is no trade. This rule applies to both bullish and bearish fundamental information. When the fundamentals suggest a trade and technical factors confirm that signal, you have a very powerful combination.

FFS. That opinion was conditional on ...but if sales pick up in the UK , keep market share in the US and they can control costs / use up long term inventory
Did we keep market share in the US since then ...if we did it was only by dropping the wholesale acquisition cost . Since that post Kaiser IIRC went generic and we lost another insurer

Wait ..I was wrong . We didn't lose market share ...we just lost our margins ( a fundamental event ) trying to maintain market share
Reports from late 2023 and throughout 2024 consistently indicate that Amarin retained over 50% of the market share in the U.S., with no significant loss in this metric during the period.
However, the company has faced challenges in the U.S. market due to declining net selling prices and margin erosion caused by generic competition, which has impacted revenues rather than market share

What fundamental event could trigger that ...hmm ? Kiwi the fundamental optimist. Are you feeling like this again...

6/3/2023, the PPS was 1.28/share
Yes moving the needle now .
Where is FFS when we need him ? It looks as tho we have broken above the very short term ( 1-3 mth ) down trend line . If this holds then those short , based on TA are likely to cover their short positions .
A week or so ago the debate seemed about how soon we would test $1 .
We may now be able to break the lower lows trend at least ...so instead of the needle moving lower we may be now moving sideways to up .

I'm not predicting $5 or anything like it soon ....but if sales pick up in the UK , keep market share in the US and they can control costs / use up long term inventory ...then IMHO we have probably seen the bottom.

Sadly, the stock price did indeed descend below a 1.00, into the abyss... all the way down to .43/share - a level no one but one (who adhered to the TA message) expected.
