LONDON--Anglo-Dutch professional information and events company RELX PLC (REL.LN) Thursday reported a rise in net profit and raised its dividend.

The company behind medical journal The Lancet and the London Book Fair reported a pretax profit of 1.16 billion pounds ($1.44 billion) for the six months ended December 31, up from GBP1 billion the previous year. Revenue increased to GBP6.9 billion from GBP5.97 billion.

The full-year dividend for the dual-listed company's U.K. arm RELX PLC will rise 21% to 35.95 pence as the company benefits from the weakness of the pound, but for the Dutch arm RELX NV rises 5% to 42.3 euro cents.

"Key business trends in the early part of 2017 are consistent with the early part of 2016," the company added.
