                  NYUNI-1 WELL UPDATE  - 12 JANUARY 2004

Aminex PLC ("Aminex"), the oil and gas company listed in London and Dublin,
announces progress on the Nyuni-1 well, offshore Tanzania.

During the second half of December the well experienced operational problems
which caused some delays.  These problems have now been overcome and the well is
currently drilling ahead in the Neocomian formation, the principal target for
this well.  Current depth is 3,201 metres and total depth is now likely to be
approximately 3,400 metres.  A further announcement will be made once total
depth has been achieved and the well has been logged.

Ndovu Resources Ltd.                    60%  (a 100% subsidiary of Aminex PLC)
Petrom SA                               30%
Bounty Oil & Gas NL                     10%
