HANFORD, Calif., May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Thresher Industries
(PinkSheets: THRR) announced a new metal matrix composite that
outperforms traditional aluminum alloy in heat sink applications.
The material ThermaLite HS is manufactured using aluminum scrap
from traditional billet machined alloy such as aircraft grade 6061
but has added ceramic particulate allowing superior heat transfer
capability. "We believe that application in electronic heat sinks
and our ability to cast this material to a near net shape will
offer a very real benefit for potential customers. We have
successfully produced and processed this material in small batches;
further refinement will be done with our customer to meet their
specific requirements prior to introduction. As we continue to
develop materials for specific markets we will see greater revenue
growth. Each market has been chosen based on our ability to either
improve performance, reduce cost or both," said Tom Flessner, President and CEO of Thresher.
Heat sinks are a key market for our ThermaLite HS materials that
can pull heat out of electrical devices, providing near net shape
cast versions of heat sinks reduces post process costs such as
machining and provides intricate cast shapes without increased
costs. The market for electronic heat sinks currently exceeds
$1.5B in the North American
market.
