Royal Mail (UK) - Treatment of Special Dividend

 Royal Mail (UK, BDVZYZ7, FTSE 100, GEIS Mid Cap) have announced their intention to return 
  GBP400 million of capital to shareholders. GBP200 million will be returned by way of a share 
  buyback programme that will run from 18 November 2021 to 19 July 2022, and GBP200 million 
  will be returned in the form of a special cash dividend, with an Ex-date of Thursday 02 December 
  2021 (open). 
  FTSE Russell understands that the final dividend amount per share will depend on the number 
  of shares in issue on the Record Date of Friday 03 December 2021. Therefore, FTSE Russell 
  has calculated an indicative dividend amount by dividing the total distribution of GBP200 
  million by the latest available shares in issue total, as published by the company. Consequently, 
  FTSE Russell will implement a special dividend adjustment of GBP 0.200018 on the Ex-date (open). 
  A further compensatory adjustment will be applied for the next business day (open), if necessary, 
  once the final dividend amount has been confirmed by the company.
